For many Cambodia brings to mind the recent history of mass genocide by the Khmer Rouge, overshadowing Cambodia’s great Angkor -Khmer Civilization which existed since 802-1432 A.D.  While Europe was still in the Dark Ages in 1200 A.D the Cambodians were building complex interconnecting cities, irrigation systems and waterways which gave rise to a population of a million inhabitants at its peak.  Lavish monuments still exists today weathering time where one can walk through the overgrown structures and appreciate magnitude of resourcefulness of these gentle people.
