ITINERARY
Full day enjoy the Beauty Of Chiang Dao And Mon Cham
This tour will guide you through the Beauty Of Chiang Dao And Mon Cham. Chiang Do is a beautiful and peaceful district of Chiang Mai province in the North of Thailand. Here you will visit the famous Chiang Dao Caveand the Wat Tham Pha Plong Temple. Mon Cham is one of the most spectacular viewpoints around Chiang Mai.
The tour starts at the hotel where your guide will meet you. 7:30am we then drive to Chiang Dao district. Here we will visit the Chiang Dao Cave. These caves penetrate into Doi Luang Chiang Dao, the third highest mountain in Thailand. The caves are venerated by the Thai and Shan people as is evidenced by the offerings, statues and decorations present at the entrance and inside the cave. At various locations within the caves you will find small temples and statues of Buddha. Close to Chiang Dao Cave is Wat Tham Pha Plong, a serene temple from where you have a fantastic view over the countryside. The temple is located high up on the slopes of Doi Luang Chiang Dao and it is well worth the walk up the 500 steps to the main chedi. After this we will have lunch at the Chiang Dao Nest.
After lunch we will drive to Chiang Dao and onwards to the Palong village Pang Daeng Nai. Your guide will tell about this interesting tribe that migrated to Thailand from Myanmar in the mid 80’s. You will have a cup of tea and meet some of the villagers. Your guide will show you the huja rawl, the village heart. There is an interesting Royal Project here as well.
The last stop will be Mon Cham, one of the most spectacular viewpoints around Chiang Mai. We will drive into the Mae Sa Valley until we turn right and drive to Mon Cham. In this area there are several traditional Hmong villages. The Hmong used to grow opium at Mon Cham. The nearby Nong Hoi Royal Project was launched in the 60’s to persuade the Hmong to stop the cultivation of opium and turn to grow crops such as strawberries and plums. Mon Cham is now an “agro-tourist” attraction for its highland agriculture as well as for its fantastic views in all directions. It is really a wonderful place to spend some time before we go back to Chiang Mai where will arrive around 17:00. O/n at the same hotel.
